Police in Batavia were called to an apartment complex on Liberty Street last Thursday night.

Someone alerted authorities that they found an infant girl, who appeared to have been dead for a while - approximately three months, according to an autopsy report.

Batavia Detective Sgt. Todd Crossett said that the child was born at home, and the mother kept the infant there for a prolonged period of time.

Police arrested and charged 28-year-old Christina M. Colantonio with second-degree murder. She appeared in court on Saturday and is currently being held without bail.

Colantonio will appear in court again today.
