Another Major Movie Is Shooting in Western New York
Western New York is slowly becoming Hollywood East as another major movie is filming here in the 716.
According to the Evening Tribune, Paramount Pictures is taking over the Town of Allen in northern Allegany County to film a new movie.
The movie, which could be released next year, is set in a fictional Amish community, which is why Paramount location scouts chose the white, two-story Amish-built farmhouse. The property had been vacant.
The farmhouse is now being used as a set for the movies and the surrounding area buildings are being used by the filming company to house props, cameras, and extra gear.
Paramount Pictures are the same company that has shot John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place 2" in Akron in 2019. That movie is set to released on Memorial Day weekend.
Last month a local casting call was put out for the movie by Casting Buffalo. They were looking for both men and women who had an Amish look to them.
The movie is also bringing some extra income to the area. The company is renting the Short Tract Volunteer Fire Company’s hall and several trailers from local businesses.
“For Allegany County, and we won’t know until it’s calculated out at the end, it’s likely to be also millions of dollars. That’s really a lengthy, a big location for them,” Clark said, noting that Paramount will spend money daily to fuel the generator and tractor-trailers as well as to buy supplies.
As more and more movie companies shoot in the area and find out that tax breaks are available, we could see more Hollywood A-listers in Western New York.
