There was big breaking news in New York State early this afternoon.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon that he will be resigning from his position as Governor. The resignation will be effective in 14 days.

Cuomo has many allegations from women that allege sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct that had many politicians calling for his resignation from the Governor of New York, but before today, Cuomo had not taken any steps to show he was about to step away from his position as Governor.

Former staffers of Cuomo and one current staffer have accused him of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct and a four-month investigation recently concluded and New York State Attorney General Letitia announced that "the governor engaged in conduct constituting sexual harassment under federal and New York State law."

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul will take over as Governor of New York. It will be the first time a woman has ever lead New York State in that position. She will also be the first Governor from Western New York since Grover Cleveland.

Cuomo did say at his press conference that he "is a fighter" and that his instinct is to "fight through this controversy."

Cuomo continues to dispute the findings of sexual harassment.

Cuomo added that it doesn't make it right, however, and has apologized for his actions.
