American Idol: Mariah Carey & Nicki Minaj Forced to Say Something Nice About Each Other

American Idol is gearing up to air season 12 in a two night debut starting next Wednesday, January 16^th and there’s already drama. A little too much diva in one space at one time and now Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey were forced to say something nice to each other. Talk about awkward.

The women on the AI judging panel have already not gotten along to well despite, their history of working with each other well in the past. It seems the rise of Minaj’s popularity has gotten to her. While at the Television Critics Association event on Tuesday, a reporter asked the judges to say something nice about one another at the event, clearly mocking out their ability to get along with one another, according to The Wrap. So, at a very classy event the two stood up and were told to compliment one another in front of all of their peers.

Here’s what Nicki Minaj had to say about Carey, going first: "That actually is easy. I say nice things about Mariah all the time. I even tell her all the time how much a fan I am of her. She's one of my favorite artists of all time. She's really shaped a generation of singers." Not bad….

Now here’s what Mariah Carey had to say about Minaj. Keep in mind that the two worked together years ago when Minaj was first getting out of the gate during one of Nicki’s music videos. Mariah first thanked Minaj for her ‘sweet’ words. Going on she continued, "Nicki and I worked together very early on in her career and did a song from an album that I had done called 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. It's called 'Up Out My Face,' ironically. Actually it was one of my favorite videos and songs. And I did feel that she was going to go very far and still have that feeling and am grateful for anything nice that she or anyone were to say about me." Well…..that didn’t sound sincere.
