The first shot of accumulating snow for areas of Western New York outside of the traditional snow belts may happen as early as this Thursday.

Mostly cloudy and drier conditions will be the main story for the first half of Wednesday. Rain showers will increase northwest to southeast Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Wintry weather noses its way back into the region late-week.  Rain will transition over to snow through Thursday morning. Widespread snowfall will have some impact toward Thursday afternoon and evening, particularly south of Buffalo, though there may be some limited accumulation north as well.  Deepening cold air will trigger some snow showers Friday-Saturday morning, with a possibility of some localized lake snow.  Temperatures will take a dive to start off next week.

THURSDAY:  Turning Colder, Rain or Mix changes to Snow AM, Chance of Snow PM north, PM Snow more likey south, High: 38, Low: 27.

FRIDAY: Cold, Some Breaks in the Clouds, Scattered Snow Showers, Locally Heavier, High: 34, Low: 22.

SATURDAY: Morning Snow Showers, then Partial Sun, Breezy, High: 38, Low: 32.

SUNDAY: Colder, Rain changes to Snow Showers, Blustery, High: 39, Low: 25.

MONDAY: Quite Cold, Snow Showers, Localized Lake Snow, High: 32.
