Widespread snow through Thursday morning may amount to 3-6″ through the morning commute, with heavy blowing snow limiting visibility and whiteouts possible. Plan on very difficult road conditions.

They go on to say widespread heavy snow will fall Thursday morning. In addition it will be quite windy with gusts upwards of 50mph and sustained winds of 20-30mph, resulting in blowing and drifting snow.

Most of the lake effect snow will be between the Boston Hills and the Southern Tier, with some lake effect snow northeast of Buffalo off Lake Ontario. The snow will become moderate, to even light at times Thursday, but will likely pick up in intensity as it continues Friday, even into Saturday.

Lake effect snow may drift into the Southtowns, and even Buffalo for a time late in the day Friday, with quick heavy accumulation.By the time the snow tapers off this weekend, some areas in the hills may have 1-2 feet over three days..

FRIDAY: Still Very Windy, Colder, Snow Showers and Localized Lake Effect Snow especially across Ski country, at times drifts towards the metro late in the day, snow will be heavy at times, High: 25

SATURDAY: Brisk Breeze, Cold, Scattered Snow Showers, Localized Lake Effect Snow tapers off late, Some Partial Sun, High: 24
