Peloton's home fitness equipment has dramatically increased in popularity during the pandemic, especially as gyms across the country closed and people took their fitness routines indoors.

However, that also means fitness equipment in the home -- with parents having to share the space of their home gyms and offices with their families -- including small children.

The popular indoor cycling manufacturer issued a serious warning to users after a tragic accident with one of the company's treadmills.

Peloton communicated the warning to users after learning a child died in an accident involving the equipment.

WGRZ reports:

In a note sent to some customers and posted online, CEO John Foley said he recently learned about an accident "resulting in, unthinkably, a death."

Foley went on to say that he was also aware of a "handful" of other incidents "involving the Tread+ where children have been hurt."

"Each [accident] is devastating to all of us at Peloton, and our hearts go out to the families involved," Foley wrote.

"We design and build all of our products with safety in mind. But in order to help ensure that you and your family members stay safe with Peloton products in your home, we need your help," Foley added.

The note to owners reiterated the safety protocols for the treadmills including warnings to keep children and pets away and secure the treadmill with the safety key.
