Heading in the direction of 1000 closings between schools and businesses, odds are you are probably home. Don't let anything bad happen to you or your house. Here are three things you should take on to make sure anything worse doesn't happen.

  • Let your faucet drip so the pipes don't freeze. It costs only about a dollar a day to do and you only have to let one faucet drip, not all of them. It's much cheaper than having a burst pipe in your house.
  • Clear out the fire hydrant by your house. At least 3 feet around it. Help the firefighters help you.
  • Clear out your vents in your furnace so that your furnace is working properly during the coldest days of the year.
