I've always thought that Western New Yorkers were pretty easy-going people, but then I asked what phrases annoy you.  And there were a lot of responses.

It started out as a simple question on facebook.  I simply asked, "How Would You Annoy A Western New Yorker In 5 Words Or Less?"

I expected a couple of responses.  As I write this article, we got over 470 comments!

To be fair, most of the responses had to do with people getting annoyed that people who aren't from around here like to eat their wings with anything other than blue cheese.  I've never really understood why that bothers people but it's like a rite of passage to become a Buffalonian.  You HAVE to eat your wings with blue cheese.  If you don't, you're just an out of towner.

The second biggest comment had to do with people calling our area Upstate New York.  A lot of people think that anything north of New York City in the state of New York is "Upstate."  We don't look at it that way.  Western New York is where we live, New York City is the big city, and everything else is Upstate.

Of course, we would be fooling ourselves if we said that it didn't annoy us to hear about our sports teams (or the teams that have haunted us for the last 20 years).  So anything to do with "Wide Right," "No Goal," or Tom Brady seemed to be pretty prevalent too.

Here are some of the best (or most common phrases) that we saw that were contained to 5 words or less.
