18-Year-Old Kylie Jenner Tells ‘Paper’ She Can’t Imagine Life After 30
Kylie Jenner's had a whirlwind 18 years. Not only is she enormously popular across all forms of social media, but she's made a name for herself as a rising beauty mogul and trend setter with her in-demand lip kits and line of hair extensions. Paper Magazine made her the cover star of their new "YOUth" issue for a reason.
But even with all of that, the discourse surrounding rumors of Kylie's possible plastic surgery is unending, and likely will be for so long as she chooses to remain in the spotlight.
Answering questions sourced from Twitter DMs, Kylie said she will retire from fame someday, ideally to a farm with her family, which she'll evidently start in her late 20s. Because like most 18 year olds, she has no concept of life three decades past birth.
When asked by Paper whether she still feels, as she's said previously, that having a first child at 30 is "too late," she replied, ""I don't want to start [having] a baby when I'm 30! I don't believe in after 30 -- I don't know."
Never mind that sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian had two children post-30, that was never their intention, says Kylie: "But they all wanted to have kids before. Kim was like, 'I better have two kids before 30.' She always said that."
Life doesn’t always turn out the way you expect it, which is a good lesson for anyone — even for one of Hollywood’s elite teens. It's relatable across the board, in a way the glitz and glam of Kylie's life could never be. But there's something far removed from the sheen of her privilege that she does experience like other teens her age, and she's trying to bring awareness to it: Online bullying.
"Growing up and being a young teen socialite comes with a lot of negativity and a lot of mean comments and online bullying," said Kylie, who started an initiative online to share her followers' submitted stories of bullying and hardships via Instagram.
"And I turn to these people who have real issues and have overcome bullying and done something amazing with it and they really inspire me. They make me feel like, 'Oh wow, they're going through something much bigger than I could ever imagine.' It's just amazing how they stay positive and I wanted to share that with my fans and followers."
That said, things could be worse for Kylie, and she's well aware of it. So she sticks to what she knows: Influencing teens with her makeup and fashion choices.
"It's just crazy how much influence I have," she said. "It's cool."
