A 16-year-old girl has died after falling from a ledge at Zoar Valley in Western New York.

On Saturday, a 16-year-old girl fell to her death at Zoar Valley, according to CNN. The girl fell off a ledge inside Zoar Valley Multiple Use Area, which is located about 40 miles to the south of Buffalo in Cattaraugus County.

"Encompassing nearly 3,000 acres, the Zoar Valley Multiple Use Area is one of the most scenic and ecologically diverse natural areas in western New York State. Zoar Valley is known for its deep gorge, with 100 to 500-foot cliffs, waterfalls and dense forests." ~ New York Department of Environmental Conservation

Officers from the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, along with New York State Police troopers, were called the area via multiple 911 calls.  In addition, emergency personnel from Otto, the Gowanda Fire Department, Gowanda EMS, Erie County Sheriff's Office Air One, Mercy Flight, NYS Forest Rangers, NYS Environmental Police and Eden Fire Rope Rescue responded to the area to help. The incident happened near the town of Otto on the evening of Saturday, August 22., at 5:40 pm, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office. The investigation into her death is ongoing and she has not been publicly identified by law enforcement.
