How many vehicles did you see on the road this past week that were being driven with snow covering side and rear windows? You probably saw quite a few, but did they SEE YOU? That's the problem.

"We're seeing that this is a problem. Not only with windshields and a lot of snow on the roof of the car, but also headlights, tail lights, turn signals," said New York State Trooper James O'Callaghan, Public Information Officer for Troop A.

Leaving snow on your car can prove to be more serious than inconvenient.

"Other vehicles can't see you, you can't properly drive our vehicle because you can't see," said Trooper O'Callaghan.

And if you're caught with snow on your car, you're looking at traffic tickets.

"Depending on if your headlights are covered, ticket for that. Brake light covered? Ticket for that," said Trooper O'Callaghan.

The fine amount is set by the court, at a minimum of $150, according to police.
