As many of you know, in addition to my part-time on-air work here at Townsquare Media, I am also a proud member of the Erie County Sheriff's Office Mounted Reserve Unit. I joined back in 1996 and am presently a Lieutenant, Instructor and Chaplain. Our unit suffered a huge loss back in July when a freak malfunction caused our Captain's horse trailer to become disconnected from his vehicle. His horse, "Buffalo Joe", was killed instantly. (Incidentally, that trailer was only 8 months old...the investigation of the accident is continuing.) The outpouring of sympathy and concern from the community has been overwhelming! From Russ Salavatore purchasing a new horse, "R.J", for our division...to the not-for-profit Western New York Chapter of the New York State Horse Council's generosity.

On Sunday, September 9th, the local Horse Council folks are having a trail ride at the scenic Hunters Creek Park in East Aurora (Centerline Road near the Reiter Road intersection). This ride will honor the memory of the veteran mounted horse with the fun starting at 11:00am, registration at 10:30am.  Minimum suggested donation is $5.00. The ride will be followed by a picnic with hamburgers and hotdogs provided, they just ask you to bring a dish to pass. Want to know more? Call Barb at (716) 941-6058. So saddle up and join us!

On behalf of Captain Joe Metzger and all of us, thank you for your messages of sympathy and support!
