Despite the many burnt bridges, embarrassing Twitter clapbacks and persistent shading of his former bandmates and their legions of fans, there's no denying the imminent truth: Zayn Malik's debut solo album Mind of Mine is shaping up to be pretty damn good.

Following the previous release of album tracks "PILLOWTALK" "LIKE I WOULD," "iT's YoU" and "BeFour," Zayn previewed an additional five songs today (March 18) via Periscope. The former One Direction member treated fans to snippets of “sHe,” “SHE DON’T LOVE ME,” DrUnK,” “TiO” and the Kehlani-featuring “wRoNg.”

Judging by what we've heard so far, Mind of Mine leans toward R&B, though it hardly lacks the type of catchy pop hooks found all over Top 40 radio. It's a fair departure from his work with One Direction, though not an unbelievable difference in sound, either.

"All the songs are different genres. They don’t really fit a specific type of music. They’re not like, ‘This is funk, this is soul, this is upbeat, this is a dance tune.’ Nothing is like that,” he said of the album's sound in his first solo interview with Fader. “I don’t really know what my style is yet. I’m kind of just showing what my influences are.”

Mind of Mine drops on March 25. In the meantime, check out the album previews (via Ultimate Music) below.
