The winter weather returned on Tuesday night and created some havoc for drivers across Western New York.

A 33-car pileup happened just before 10:00P.M. on Milestrip Road, near the Martin Road overpass, in Hamburg.

Police responded to the first accident, which then escalated into several more accidents in the same area. Several roads were then closed, including the overpass for Route 5 in both directions.

Ice roadways are to blame for the dangerous conditions, which also caused one vehicle to crash into a police car.

Authorities set up a command post at the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Hall, and luckily no major injuries were reported.

The roads were re-opened around 1:20A.M.
