What’s Open and Closed On Columbus Day

Today is a Federal holiday celebrating Christopher Columbus which means many Federal buildings and offices are closed today.

Here is a quick cheat sheet of what is open and closed today

CLOSED:

Banks: Most banks, including Federal Reserve Banks, will be closed.

Mail services: The United States Postal Service will not deliver mail on Monday. UPS will pick up and deliver packages as normal. FedEx will be operational, with the exception of FedEx Home Delivery

Schools: Many schools will be closed on Columbus Day, but some schools do not observe the holiday and will remain open.

Libraries: Most public libraries will be closed on Columbus Day.

Federal Offices and Courts: Since Columbus Day is a Federal Holiday, Federal offices and courts are closed.

OPEN:

Garbage Pickup: Most towns and cities have normal pickup today.

Retail Stores: Most places are open normal business hours today.

National parks: The National Park Service is open today.

Grocery stores: Most grocery stores will remain open.
