The Latest on Lake Effect For Wednesday and Thursday In WNY

According to the Buffalo News, "with winds gusting up to 35 mph, visibility could be cut to nearly zero with "localized blizzard conditions," as the latest lake effect event moves through the WNY area Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. The timing of the storm could make tomorrow's drive home especially tricky.

The National Weather service has put all of Erie County under a Lake Effect Snow Warning beginning at 1 p.m. on Wednesday through 1 a.m. Thursday.

The Buffalo News reports "there will also be a big impact from the lake-effect snow on the metro Buffalo area as the snow band is expected to form up across the city and northeastern suburbs during the afternoon commute," according to forecasters for the weather service.

The most persistent bands will likely form in Northern Erie and Genesee counties and could result in total accumulations of 3-7 inches, and while the accumulation totals aren't remarkable, the timing of the storm happening during the evening commute will make for challenging conditions.
