Do you remember "The Turk-Cake"?

Around this time last year, I had just started The Joy Morning Rush...and I brought my annual Thanksgiving creation to the greater Western New York area.

It's basically all the best parts of Thanksgiving dinner -- turkey, potatoes, yams, stuffing -- in layer-cake form. As WEIRD as it looks and sounds, it was a TOTAL hit at the office, and I even had some of you asking for the "recipe" (a term I use loosely).

(I'd like to note that when this video was shot, I had about 20 extra I-just-moved-here pounds on me...please don't judge the pudge... :) )

It appears a bakery in Manhattan had a similar idea...Thanksgiving in donut form. The Zucker Bakery is making this treat in honor of Hanukkah falling on Thanksgiving this year. Donuts are a traditional Hanukkah food, so they're stuffing a donut with turkey, cranberry sauce and gravy. They're also offering a sweet potato donut stuffed with toasted marshmallow filling.

I've NEVER backed down from a challenge...so I'm going to SOMEHOW figure out how to lay down the competitive gauntlet to the bakery and see who reigns supreme -- NYC or WNY.  Stay tuned...

By the way, the Taste of Home Cooking School is SATURDAY!
