(WARNING: THE VIDEO BELOW, WHILE FICTION, IS GRAPHIC. SOME MAY FIND IT DISTURBING. MOST WILL FIND IT AN EYE-OPENER....)

Admit it -- you've done it.

And if you can't admit it, you're a better person than I am. I admit fully, I've texted while driving. I don't make it a habit, and I'm not proud of it, but I will be honest about it.

The NY State Police and Governor Andrew Cuomo started a campaign on July 4, aiming to crack down on the very dangerous practice of texting while driving, and distracted driving in general. Unmarked vehicles -- higher above the ground than other vehicles -- will be used all summer during this campaign.

In New York state, one in five crashes is the result of distracted driving. The points on a license for convicted texters has increased from 3 to 5 points. New drivers could have their licenses suspended or revoked.

If you sit and talk with your driving-aged child about nothing else, please include this video. WARNING: While it is fiction, it is GRAPHIC. But it's also one of the most powerful ones I've seen.

Everyone thinks, "It'll never happen to me." Until it does. And it certainly can.

I also think AT&T has one of the better, age-appropriate campaigns, called "It Can Wait". Their videos include victims of texting and driving accidents, and it's very powerful. Please share with your kids.
