With U-B and St. Bonaventure now out of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament the support of many basketball fans in this area now shifts to the Syracuse Orange.  The last team to make the field and was forced into a play-in game has now advanced to the Sweet 16.

Syracuse managed just one successful 3-point shot but held Big 10 Conference Champions Michigan State to just 25 percent shooting in a 55-53 upset victory.  And they did it with a huge crowd of Spartans fans cheering against them in Detroit.

Loaded with stars, the Spartans never led by more than six points as the Orange used their effective defensive to hold the Spartans to just 25 points in the first half.  The Spartans didn't help themselves either by missing their last 12 shots.

Tyus Battle led Syracuse with 17 points.  Oshae Brissett added 15.

The Orange had a losing record in Atlantic Coast Conference play this season, but have now won 3 in a row to advance to a Friday matchup with 2nd seed Duke.
