While the investigation into a threat made by a student at Sweet Home Middle School, school officials are holding a public forum about school safety for students, families, and community members.

Anthony Day the superintendent of schools released a statement inviting people to a special meeting this Wednesday.

I know that there are many questions about this situation. I would like to invite all parents and community members to a special town hall meeting this Wednesday, December 19th at 6:30 PM in the Middle School Auditorium.  Members of the Amherst Police will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about the investigation to the extent they can while in the midst of a working investigation.  Members of our administrative team will provide information and answer questions about what is being done in response to this situation.

Currently, the Amherst police have already arrested one 13 years old and are in the process of interviewing several other students about the threat.

The 13 years was charged with making a terrorist threat which is a Class D Felony.
