State Questioning High Rates of Cancer in Parts of Cheektowaga and Buffalo

The New York State Health Department is looking into why there seems to be a higher number of cancer cases in certain portions of Buffalo and western Cheektowaga.

WGRZ reports "an examination of the state's cancer registry found that cases of colorectal, esophageal, kidney, lung, oral and prostate cancer happen more often in this area." Rates of cancer were 30 to 100 percent higher than the state's average rates in other locations, according to WGRZ.

There will be a public meeting on July 19 at the Buffalo Museum of Science at 6:30pm discussing the cancer study.
