FYI, that's supposed to be Rip Van Winkle. ;)

The most bizarre thing happened to me this weekend.  Instead of my usual go-to of "OMG, check WebMD!!!!" I want to know if this has ever happened to you! (Medical professionals especially are encouraged to talk me off this ledge.)

I came home BUSHED from work on Friday and took my usual nap. I woke up at 5 p.m. with a pounding in my left tonsil area...not a scratchy sore throat, but the kind that when you swallow, it feels like your eardrum is going to pop right out of your head with excruciating pain. I cancelled all plans and opened a relaxing bottle of wine.

A couple glasses later, I went to bed at midnight.

I woke up Saturday at 8 a.m., still in pain. Went back to bed at 9 a.m. I woke up at 2:30 p.m. I got up, made some food, took care of DJ, and fell back asleep by 4 p.m. Until 8 p.m.

I went on a Walgreen's run for some Chloraseptic, came home, and was in bed by 11 p.m. Saturday night.

I woke up Sunday around 8 a.m. with less pain, but an overall feeling of "Huh???" Mentally, I was totally out of it (which isn't a far stretch, but an uncomfortable one).

I suited up and hit the grocery store, and by the time I came home at noon, I was feeling fine.

So in essence, I slept almost 18 hours in a 24-hour period.  And could've gone more, if my dear DJ didn't have a bladder or the need to eat.

Has this ever happened to you???  Was I bitten by a tsetse fly and cursed with African Sleeping Sickness?

Tsetse Fly

Or am I overreacting, and I just had a nasty bug/allergy attack for two days???
