Students at Niagara Wheatfield High School are all safe after the school was placed on lockdown on Thursday afternoon.

Police officers responded to a call from the school's administration stating that the school was placed on lockdown after a student found ammunition shells on the windshield of a vehicle in the parking lot.

A majority of the students were released from school before the lockdown, but roughly 100 students were still on the property participating in after-school activities.

The students and staff were finally released around 5:00P.M. following a thorough investigation.
