Laura's #1 Track Throwback takes us back thirty-one years to 1984 with Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time."

The single was featured on Cyndi's debut solo album She's So Unusual and spent two weeks at #1 on the music industry charts. Three other singles from the album charted as well, making Cyndi Lauper's album the first debut female album to chart four top-five hits on the Billboard Hot 100. The album also earned Cyndi the Best New Artist Awards at the 27th Annual Grammy Awards in 1985.

Cyndi Lauper's success continued with the release of the The Goonies soundtrack, followed by her sophomore album True Colors in 1986.

Cyndi Lauper's most recent venture has shifted to the Broadway musical Kinky Boots, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Original Score in 2013. The award marked her as the first woman in history to win the composing category by herself. The cast recording of Kinky Boots also awarded Cyndi Lauper the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Albumand she became the first artist in over 25 years to top the dance charts with a Broadway tune.
