Governor Cuomo Seeks Pardon For Former Youth Offenders

Governor Andrew Cuomo is putting his "pardon power" to good use...

The Governor is planning to pardon people who were convicted of non-violent crimes when they were minors.

In order to be eligible, the person must have been 16 or 17 years old at the time they committed the non-violent crime, and has to have lived a crime-free life for at least ten years. The person must also be a New York State resident, and a productive member of their community.

Governor Cuomo stated that having a criminal record as an adult can make it tough for former youth offenders to find work, find a place to live, or even go to college.
