Not only does The Frozen Hog have all your favorite gelato flavors (cotton candy, cake batter, cookie dough, strawberry, cheesecake, salted caramel, etc.), they have edible, egg-free cookie dough that you can eat solo or with the gelato.

The doughballs also come in a variety of flavors, so Dave challenged Melody to a taste test: Could they each guess which flavor of cookie dough they were eating with just one bite?

We both liked the cake batter cookie dough—but neither of us guessed it correctly. Melody loved taking bite after bite of the chocolate chip cookie dough; we're all trained not to eat raw cookie dough that the safe, edible version is that much more tasty! Melody thought the pumpkin spice cookie dough tasted vanilla with just a hint of spice; Dave found it to be very similar to its famous cousin, the pumpkin spice latte.

The cake batter doughball reminded Melody of when she was a kid. (She could imagine her daughter wanting it because of the sprinkles.) Dave's favorite was Oreo—he wouldn't mind dunking it in milk.

Overall, each of the doughballs was really rich and had a thick texture, somewhere between gooey goodness and a soft-baked cookie.

The Frozen Hog isn't just about doughballs, though. The owners have been working hard since 2015 to bring hand-crafted gelato to the Buffalo region. Ice cream's Italian cousin, gelato is served about 10 degrees warmer and has about half the fat of ice cream, so the texture is dense and smooth. Plus, gelato packs a fuller flavor than ice cream. (They also offer sorbet in fruity flavors including mango-pineapple and raspberry.)
