So what ended the Buffalo Sabres 3-game winning streak?  They returned home to play in KeyBank Center.  For all of the things the Sabres say about making it difficult for other teams to play against the Sabres when they play on home ice they seldom do.  In 21 home games so far this season the Sabres have won only six against 15 losses.  The fans have caught on and it was pretty evident by the sparse crowd, one of the smallest of the season.

The Sabres played games out west in Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver and won all 3 games and looked great doing it.  Tuesday night was a much different story with the Sabres losing to the New Jersey Devils 3-1.

The Sabres had fallen behind 2-0 in a lackluster 50 minutes of hockey.  In the final 10 minutes they tried to turn up the pace and were able to come within a goal when Jake McCabe scored his third goal of the season on the power play with just over five minutes to play.  The Sabres came close to tying it in the final minute, but the Devils clinched it into an empty net.

Robin Lehner made 25 saves, but had his career-record shutout streak of 145:15 come to an end.

Tuesday night's game was the first of a five-game home stand so in a very short time the Sabres can either back up their words by playing better or continue to disappoint their fans.  The Sabres host the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.
