Happy Independence Day, Buffalo! Enjoy time spent with family and friends and making lasting memories, BUT be safe!

With the Fourth of July comes BBQ's, swimming, and fun in the sun. All of this is fantastic but you have to be mindful of a few things to keep you and your loves ones safe.

1. Fireworks- Never relight a dud. Always have a hose handy and don't allow kids to use them unsupervised.

2. Grilling- MMMMmmm.... We all love those burgs, dogs, steaks, and kabobs. Never leave your grill unattended. Also, make sure it is far away from anything that could potentially catch fire.

3. Water safety- This is a big one. It can be so easy to get lost in a conversation or doing something else and you lose sight of your kids. Young ones can drown in just two inches of water. Be mindful of the kiddos.

4. Sun exposure- We all saw how red Dave was. It is very important to make sure you are using sunscreen, staying hydrated, and also opting for the shade. This is to eliminate the risk of a sunburn.

5- Pets. This is also a big one. Pets are afraid of fireworks and it is very easy for them to run away. Make sure you have a collar on them in case they run away and tell your guests to keep your pets indoors.

Happy Independence Day, Buffalo! Stay safe out there!
